We are Donna and John.  A couple of 25 year olds (yeah I know...we are fooling no-one) with a desire to see as much of the world as we can.  We live in Australia and have 2 grown-up daughters who no longer travel with us.  That's certainly a positive from a financial perspective as it is much cheaper to pay for 2 rather than 4 travelers.  However the downside is that you miss sharing some wonderful destinations, experiences, memories and other life events with your family.

We started traveling relatively late in life.  We were in our twenties before we took our first adventure abroad.  Today, the cost of traveling is so much cheaper (relatively) than when we were growing up - particularly airfares.  Our daughters, in contrast, were very young when they got their first passport and headed off with us on our family adventure.

"We haven't been everywhere, but it's on our list"

I think it is fair to say that the end of our careers is closer than the start. Retirement for us both will likely occur in the next few years - who can tell?  When that occurs we will definitely look forward to the extra leisure time that this provides and hope to do as much travel as possible.  We certainly don't see retirement as the opportunity to slow down and take it easy.  We want to be active, out there and experience as much of the world as we can.

Until that time we will really only have the opportunity to take one 'holiday of a lifetime' each year - at best.  No doubt with family and other life events taking precedence some years our planned overseas adventures may need to be put on hold - that's life.  However,  after all of that - look out world we are coming!

Given our plan to increase our travel over time, we felt the need to start a 'Bucket List' of the destinations we would like to visit and explore.  I suspect the list will be longer than our capability to complete it. However, that won't stop us in any way and really represents a challenge!

I created this website for two main reasons.  The first was to learn some new technology which was to create a website.  It's surprisingly easier than I thought it would be, or perhaps I'm just amazingly talented and gifted!!  The second was to create a space where I could record and store our travel memories and relive them in an engaging manner rather than just sit at my computer clicking through photos.  It's amazing how memories of 'unforgetable' holidays fade over time and although you have the photo, the story that goes with it becomes dim.

Donna has been the one to write a travel journey on many of our holidays and when we sit down and read through it from time to time, that really does confront you with how much you have forgotten.  However, reading the journal notes quickly bring back some great memories and with photos to accompany it - it's really wonderful.

So my aim is to create a travel journal that can be accessed any time, any where and make use of the great technology available to record our memories. If someone else happens to read our journals and finds something of interest or even gets some ideas for their own adventures, then all the better.

It's a big wide world out there waiting to be explored and we can't wait to go on our next adventure
